Employment Law Seminar: Resilience and sickness absence

Wednesday, 10 October 2012
09:00 - 12:00
The Work Foundation, 21 Palmer Street, London SW1H 0AD

Speakers

In February 2011 the government announced a review of workplace sickness absence. The current sickness regime is often dubbed a "sick note culture" which leads to significant costs for employers. Work place stress is clearly on the increase which raises questions about whether the workplace is more stressful generally and what employers can do to reduce the impact of absence on their business.

We will be providing practical hints and tips on dealing with sickness absence, and, in particular the management of employees suffering from stress. We shall be focusing on the difference between employees working under pressure and those who suffer physical or mental symptoms as a result of stress and the extent to which employers need to be aware of the impact of working practices on different employees.

The session will include a review of the latest legal developments in relation to workplace stress.
